Everything we consume; everything we choose to love; everything we abjure; every experience we have becomes part of us and we part of them. I will address the last question, although all of the questions you ask are important and worth asking. What did I do with my life? Why, I lived it. Sometimes it has been beautiful, the births of my children and my lovely wife come to mind, and sometimes it has been difficult. The death of my brother and brother-in-law, my wife's struggle with cancer (She beat it.), come to mind. Every second I am grateful for. The tears, the laughs, the difficult and abject sorrow. All of those experiences make me who I am, and I thank God for them every morning. A well written piece. It made me think deeply about your questions.
And thank you for your comment. That is what I fear is not living the life I have. You are right. It’s not always easy, pleasant or fun, but it is your life and you lived it fully and as well as you could.
This was absolutely incredible—breathtaking. Your writing is amazing! The visuals you are able to create even in an article are completely immersive. Definitely food for thought. Thank you, Jesse 🥹
Something I really took from your article was to enjoy the present. It reminded me a lot of Thorin’s last words about valuing what you have in front of you, and Pip from Great Expectations not seeing the true treasure he already has. It’s a good reminder for all of us, and I think I needed to hear that. As I’m deciding about college, my future life is before me and what career path I want to choose. Sometimes those lofty thoughts can distract you from enjoying family and those around you. With the possibility of leaving for college out of state, I am realizing how much I cherish my family, and the little moments are not so unimportant to me anymore. It all means something.
As these thoughts were beginning to surface, I read your article and it really sent it home to me. Plus, your writing cut deeply into me so it had a lot more impact.
Wow. That’s quite beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I hope you make the most of your time with your family, but also the most of what open doors you have. God will direct you in the path you need to go.
Sit still and give thanks for all the blessings we take for granted daily. Sit still and remember the love you felt for someone no longer here. Sit still and embrace the fond memories of your life while forgetting the past failures. We all have struggles from time to time, with many with much more struggles and pain that many of us cannot comprehend. I am truly blessed in ways that I try to give thanks to my Lord and Savior each day. I have health issues, but still can function with daily life and routines. I don’t take this for granted. There is no need to look back. We cannot change the outcome. There is no need to worry. Each day will take care of it. Rejoice and give thanks. ❤️
You are welcome! I appreciate you giving it a read, and being open about your life.
It is true we cannot change the outcome of the things in the past. That is why we must be careful with everything that we do. Yet not hesitate to keep moving forward. Indeed, each day will take care of itself. May we just trust God, do good and seek to follow His Will with our lives.

I just want others to do the same.
You welcome, Jesse. Keep writing and trying to figure things out. God Bless.

Thank you so much, Catherine! You are too kind.
Would you mind if I asked what kind of food for thought you might have after reading it?
Thanks Jesse :)

Amen! Yes, don’t take anything for granted and don’t worry. God will take care of us each and every day. May all glory and honor be to Him.
Thanks Jesse. As always, another great article. Keep writing.
